Palmer engineers have developed a unique flex with the benefits of carbon: rocket-fueled rebounds, powerful acceleration and dampening that create the best riding experience. The new revolutionary DPD Klothoid shape, Palmer full woodcore and stone ground 7200 graphite base creates a very fast and powerful, yet smooth and easy-handling ride.

The first board in the world that provides full-blown power riding without compromising effortless handling and total control.

Why 100% carbon? All snowboards twist, bend and flex as they pass over the snow. Stiff boards do this less than soft boards but they all do it. Whilst in it's twisted, bent or flexed state the board under performs because it has temporarily lost the optimum shape, sidecut and edge alignment that the designers had intended. This under performance is characterised by a loss of control and a loss of speed. A snowboard holding its correct shape performs like a hot knife through butter. A twisted snowboard, on the other hand, kicks and bucks as its edges hit the lumps and bumps in the snow in an ill-defined unpredictable way. The Palmer Platinum LE flexes like all snowboards should (else they would be too stiff too ride) but the massive difference in performance comes in because of the speed with which it returns to it's original perfect shape. Carbon fibres are like coiled up springs which almost instantly return to their original position. This is the 'magic' property unique to carbon. The difference a 100% carbon snowboard can make to the riding any snowboarder is amazing. Riders likely to get the most out of this board are intermediates (as well as advanced riders) because the board's ride is so predictable and controllable. It is also bloody fast!

We have just seen a pre-production version of the 2009 version of this board. Palmer decided to make the deck white, thereby losing the natural matt black finish of the pure carbon. Also, they have increased the price to £1,400 due to the world shortage of the correct grade of carbon fibre. The shortage is blamed on the European Airbus Project. The price increase also reflects the hand built nature of the boards, which are made to order in Switzerland by just one man. We have the 2008 model in stock or can take pre-orders for the 2009 model.

  • PREPREG/NCF (NON-CRIMP-FABRIC) - Prepreg adds the perfect amount of glue exactly where it is needed and not a drop more. It ensures durability, long life, and consistency in flex and ride. Where other manufacturers use wet lamination to save money, Palmer maintains its commitment to quality by using prepreg in all boards.
  • New DPD KLOTHOID SHAPE - The optimised interaction between the sidecut and the nose and tail surfaces. DPD stands for Dynamic Power Distribution to the edges. Klothoid represents the numerous radii (circles) that define the sidecut, and DPD extends these radii into the nose and tail kick. In practical terms this means more control and effortless handling, thanks to an optimised edge grip. DPD pushes edge-hold, stability and acceleration to a new standard of handling and safety.
